Zach Beard to Pilot Morgan Lucas Racing A-Fuel Dragster
Morgan Lucas has confirmed his Lucas Oil A-Fuel dragster entry for the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals Top Alcohol division will be with 17-year old Zach Beard in the cockpit.
The son of noted tuner, Lee Beard, crew chief/team manager for Antron Brown’s David Powers Racing Top Fuel dragster, has afforded the young man a racing background from a first-hand perspective. His father has earned 53 wins and 59 poles and is considered one of the best nitro crew chiefs in NHRA racing.
“Zach is an excellent driver on the karting tour and has made some really good runs this year while with Randy Meyer, so we know he has what it takes,” said Lucas. “I'm confident with him driving and with our Steve Bogg's horsepower, big things could happen. Who knows maybe this can turn into a more permanent situation in the future."
Beard began racing go-karts in 2005 winning the SIRA Super Can championship in his first season on tour. He won on the Florida Winter Tour in 2007 and has finished in the top five the past two seasons in the Stars of Karting presented by the IRL series. Beard also has raced Formula BMWs in Spain. He currently is a senior at Covenant Christian High School in Indianapolis.
This is the next step up for Beard in David Powers Racing’s driver development program.

In addition, the winning bidder will receive two goody bag of Morgan Lucas apparel and obtain an autograph and photo opportunity during the meet ‘n greet session by the personable driver along with Lucas Oil teammate J.R. Todd between the professional qualifying sessions on Saturday.
