Morgan Lucas’ string of first round successes came to an abrupt halt at the 42nd annual Pontiac Performance Nationals at National Trail Raceway against NHRA POWERade Top Fuel points leader, Melanie Troxel. Ironically, both teams had entered the event as the last two remaining racing operations after eight events of 23 without a first round loss in 2006.
Things got off to a good start for the Lucas Oil driver, as he left first (.064 - .102) in his opening round match up. However, Troxel was able to motor away and take the win, 4.551 seconds, 323.74 mph to 5.038 seconds, 217.00 mph for Lucas.
