Registration Opens for 17th Lucas Oil Eric Medlen Memorial Golf Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (Apr 8, 2025) – Registration is officially open for the 17th Lucas Oil Eric Medlen Memorial Golf Tournament, taking place on August 28 at Eagle Creek Golf Course. The popular annual event honors the legacy of Eric Medlen, a talented NHRA Funny Car driver, and continues to provide life-changing medical care and support for patients and families at Ascension St. Vincent.

Event Details:

“This tournament holds special meaning for us and it is incredible to see how much it has grown over the years,” said Katie Lucas, President of Lucas Oil. “Our team is extremely grateful for the outpouring of support this tournament has received and each year we see the impact of that support in real time – helping fund new research, improving facilities and investing in advanced equipment. We are honored to work with amazing partners and sponsors who make this all possible.”

This year’s tournament is especially significant as it coincides with a significant development in Indiana’s healthcare landscape: the opening of Lucas Family Brain & Spine Hospital at Ascension St. Vincent. Made possible in part from events like the Eric Medlen Memorial Golf Tournament, which has raised $1,880,000 to date for the hospital, the new facility will revolutionize brain and spine care for both children and adults in the area, expanding access to cutting-edge treatment and compassionate care.

Eric Medlen, a promising and skilled Funny Car driver, tragically lost his life in a racing accident. The tournament was created in his memory and has funded critical projects such as a pediatric MRI suite, the Ascension St. Vincent House and Dr. Jodi Smith’s pediatric neurology research. Last year alone, the event raised more than $420,000, and this year’s tournament aims to continue that momentum in support of groundbreaking advancements in pediatric healthcare. Contributions from the tournament will directly support critical areas related to brain and spine care for children and adults, including support for technology, education, research and patient navigation at Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital and the Lucas Family Brain and Spine Hospital.

“What started as a way to honor Eric’s memory among close friends has transformed into a major event that has raised nearly two million dollars for Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital and Ascension St. Vincent,” added Morgan Lucas, CEO of Lucas Oil. “The generosity and support from this community is unbelievable and we are touched to see Eric’s legacy make such a meaningful impact on so many patients and their families.”

The tournament offers numerous sponsorship opportunities and a silent auction for those wishing to support both the event and the children’s hospital. To register for the tournament or view available sponsorships, please visit www.EricMedlenMemorial.com or contact [email protected].
