Overall Responsibility
OTR drivers are given the responsibility of delivering all freight in a safe and prompt manner through the use of a tractor-trailer. OTR drivers also have the duty to engage with our customers and clients in a courteous and professional manner. At all times, OTR drivers are to obey all Department of Transportation regulations and laws, and at the same time adhere to Lucas Oil Products, Inc’s own personnel policies. OTR drivers will experience extended periods of time away from their hometowns, and must be able to adapt to the nature of their work. In addition to this, OTR drivers must be able to communicate effectively and take responsibility for all equipment that they provided by Lucas Oil Products, Inc.

Key Responsibilities

  • Must abide by all Department of Transportation, federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Adhere to Lucas Oil Products’ personnel policy as outlined the Employee Handbook.
  • Be able to hook and unhook a trailer in a safe and proper manner without assistance.
  • Take responsibility for all equipment used, including materials and electronics within the tractor, the tractor itself, the trailer, and the shipped goods within the trailer.
  • Maintain a clean and safe tractor environment.
  • Must be well-groomed and professional when interacting with our clients and customers.
  • When necessary, load and unload all goods with a manual lift in a safe and prompt manner.
  • Communicate thoroughly and promptly with the Dispatch Department and the officers of Lucas Oil Products.
  • Maintain all documents that range from log books to bills of lading, and other papers of information essential to our business. In addition, ensure that all documents are verified and properly completed prior to departure from site.
  • Must report all accidents, incidents, and any circumstances that may jeopardize the safety of our driver, equipment, and goods being shipped.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Applicants are required to be a minimum of 22 years old at the time of their employment.
  • Applicants must possess a legal and valid Class A – Commercial Drivers License (CDL).
  • Applicants must be able to read and write in the English language.
  • Applicants must be able to lift at least 60 pounds.
  • Applicants are required to submit to and pass a Department of Transportation Drug Screening.
  • Applicants are required to receive a medical card as required by the Department of Transportation through its physical exam.
  • Applicants must be able to perform certain arithmetic as related to hours of service, logging hours worked, distance mileage calculations, among others.
  • Applicants must submit to a background check, employment history check, motor vehicle records check, and a reference check.
  • Applicants must be able to take a pre-driving test prior to employment to ensure your knowledge and ability to drive our equipment.
  • Applicants must be able to perform all duties regardless of weather conditions unless otherwise noted.
