GIVING BACK

Giving Back is Our Guiding Principle

Our vision is to improve the lives of our people, customers, and those in our community.

community-first leadership

Community-first leadership began with Forrest and Charlotte. Today, that legacy has shaped our culture and direction and all that we do. We are grateful to have the ability to support numerous organizations and programs that are local to where our employees, and our families, live and work. Our mission – an unwavering commitment to creating superior solutions to solve everyday problems – is not only a statement about the products we make but also the impact we can have as a force for goodwill.

Shared Team Vision

Katie Lucas, President, leads the daily corporate social responsibility efforts, directs charitable programs, and serves as a steward of the Lucas legacy – a driving force for active civic duty and generosity.

Lucas Oil employees take giving back to heart and participate in team-supported volunteer and fundraising programs in their local communities. Serving together is a core value at Lucas Oil. For some offices, that means supporting a local mission by providing meals or being an active Big Brother or Big Sister. For others, it’s gathering emergency supplies following a natural disaster, raising money for a children’s hospital, or building a new playground. And, collectively across all Lucas locations, gathering and distributing Christmas presents for less fortunate children – our team graciously supports causes and communities they care about.

Making an Impact Together

We are grateful for our corporate partners who share the same commitment to improving the lives of those in our communities. Together we can make a positive difference and a more meaningful impact to those we serve.

Katie Lucas
President

Our support for this significant initiative reinforces our dedication to preserving history and inspiring excellence within our community and beyond.

Lucas Oil committed to a multi-year partnership with the foundation to help bring the museum and monument to life.

Eric Medlen Memorial Golf Tournament – Honoring Our Friend Eric Medlen and Paying Forward His Legacy

Over 15 years, Morgan & Katie Lucas hosted the Lucas Oil Eric Medlen Memorial Golf Tournament – raising over $1,400,000 for Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at Ascension St. Vincent and honoring friend and late NHRA Funny Car driver Eric Medlen.

In the world of drag racing, Eric Medlen was a rising star, showcasing remarkable dedication, talent, and an irresistible charisma. Despite his promising career, his life was tragically cut short at 33 due to fatal injuries sustained while testing his Funny Car in 2007. His passing deeply shook the racing community, prompting John Force Racing to create the “Eric Medlen Chassis,” a major redesign aimed at enhancing racer safety. Led by his father, John Medlen, along with expert contributions, the project revolutionized drag racing safety measures, leaving an enduring impact on the sport. Yet, Eric’s legacy surpassed his racing prowess. Known for his infectious spirit and ability to uplift others, he was more than a skilled racer; he was a friend who believed in spreading joy, often advocating the power of ice cream to brighten even the darkest days. His enduring influence continues to inspire, reminding us that his legacy goes beyond trophies, resonating in the hearts of those he touched.

Each year Lucas Oil honors Eric’s memory with the Eric Medlen Memorial Golf Tournament. Every penny raised supports Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital.

WHEELER MISSION & DRUMSTICK DASH

Wheeler is a Christian, social services organization that provides critically needed goods and services to individuals experiencing homelessness, poverty, and need in Central and South Central Indiana without regard to race, color, sexual orientation, creed, national origin or religion.

With nine locations throughout Indianapolis and Bloomington, Wheeler Mission is the largest and most diverse and established ministry of its kind in the state. They help men, women, and children facing homelessness, poverty and addiction.

On any given night, over 1,600 people in Indianapolis find themselves homeless – our neighbors, children in our kids’ schools, people we see every day in the community – and we have an opportunity to help.

Since 2018, the Wheeler Mission has helped over 10,000 men, women and children in our community. Many of these people are experiencing homelessness or are victims of domestic violence who then became homeless.

Every holiday season, the Wheeler Mission serves thousands of Thanksgiving meals to men, women and children in Indianapolis. We are proud to help the Wheeler Mission feed those in need by lacing up our sneakers for the Drumstick Dash! The Drumstick Dash is an annual Thanksgiving Day run/walk fundraiser that gives 100% of the proceeds to helping the Wheeler Mission serve those experiencing homelessness in our community. It’s an event we always look forward to and has a direct impact on people’s lives.

The mission of the organization is to generate awareness, initiate strategies and support restorative services for children’s mental and physical health.
