Welcome, North Carolina (February 6, 2017) – Since teaming up with Lucas Oil in 2014, ECR Engines has been a dominant player in sports car competition and last Sunday in the Rolex 24 at Daytona International Speedway was no exception. ECR Engines, powered by Lucas Oil, finished first and second capturing its second Rolex 24 victory, while making its debut with the new Cadillac DPi-V.R. Since Lucas Oil signed on as the official provider of premium motor oil for ECR Engines and Richard Childress Racing (RCR), the race organizations have seen more than 50 victories in stock car and sports car racing.
"Lucas Oil has a rich history in auto racing and we're proud of our partnership with ECR Engines," said Thomas Fredrickson, Chief Operating Officer for Lucas Oil Products, Inc. "Several years ago, we set a goal to produce a line of high performance engine oils and gear oils that are second-to-none in the racing industry. ECR Engines is a testimony to accomplishing that goal. We're thrilled to play a part of this victory."
ECR Engines has won IMSA Tudor Series championships for three consecutive seasons and won the Prototype Engine Manufacturer's championship four years in a row. In 2014, ECR swept the podium at the Rolex 24, with the Corvette Daytona Prototypes finishing 1-2-3.
"Our relationship with Lucas Oil has been fruitful, to say the least," said Richie Gilmore, president of ECR Engines. "We know each time we go to the race track we're using the best possible motor oil for our high-performance vehicles. Whether it's stock car racing or sports car racing, we're confident in our engines' ability to compete at the highest level. Lucas Oil plays a major role in that success."
Based on the campus of RCR, ECR Engines produces engines across seven types of stock car and sports car racing series, including production for NASCAR teams such as RCR, Germain Racing, JTG Daughterty Racing and Leavine Family Racing. In 2016, ECR collected 17 victories and powered GMS Racing to the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship.
