Team "Protect The Harvest/Lucas Oil" takes on RAIN RIDE across Indiana - Saturday, July 15

Corona, CA. (July 11, 2018) - Forrest Lucas's political initiative Protect The Harvest in partnership with Lucas Oil is entering a 10 man team to ride in the Saturday, July 15 "RAIN RIDE" across Indiana from Terra Haute to Richmond.

Sponsored by the Bloomington Bicycle Club, this annual RAIN RIDE attracts some 3,500 cycling aficionados from all over Indiana and across the United States. Its 160-mile length runs mostly on the Historic National Route 40, an older divided four-lane road with light traffic. Entrants are expected to be able to average at least 12 to 14 mph for over 11 hours.

Team Protect The Harvest/Lucas Oil will be captained by Tom Briere, President of Tomad International, a veteran RAIN RIDE competitor. TOMAD International, Inc., is an export management company specializing in sales and marketing within the Middle East and Africa region and works closely with Lucas Oil. Co-captain in 2017 is Mark Sromalla, Lucas Oil's Sales Director, based out Lucas Oil's corporate headquarters in Corona, Southern California.

RAIN RIDES's fastest recorded time since 2001 was 6:20 in 2010. The slowest first place finish was 7:44 in 2013. The percentage of those finishing the ride to the total number of starting riders is around 84%. Typical training rides to prepare for the 160-mile bicycle enduro is 25 -50 miles per day in the 3 months leading up to the event. RAIN starts at 7 am at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College @ US-150 and St. Marys Rd., Terre Haute, Indiana.
