Arana Jr. Storms to Pole Position at Southern Nationals

Hector Arana Jr.

Commerce, Georgia (May 5, 2018) – Team Arana would finish the final day of qualifying for the NHRA Southern Nationals Powered by Mello Yello in style by sweeping the top two spots in qualifying.

After ending the first day in the sixth position, Hector Arana Jr. used a perfect run to convincingly grab the top spot. Arana Jr. blasted his Lucas Oil Racing TV EBR to a time of 6.806 seconds at 198.76 mph. The run set a new track speed record while putting him an astounding 0.044 seconds clear of the field.

“That was an unbelievable pass,” said an ecstatic Arana Jr. “After yesterday, we knew we had some work to do and the guys made some fantastic changes to help get the Lucas Oil Racing TV EBR off the line quicker. I knew it was going to be a good run but I didn’t think it was going to be that fast.”

Hector Arana Sr. would make it a 1-2 sweep for Team Arana when he powered to the second position with a run of 6.850 seconds at 196.47 mph aboard his Lucas Oil EBR. “I said yesterday that if we can improve our sixty-foot times, we’d be in good shape and it looks like we’ve been able to do that,” said a pleased Arana Sr. “Hopefully we can continue our form for four more rounds tomorrow.”
