Team Arana Caps Off Strong Weekend With Semi-Final Finish

Team Arana

Commerce, Georgia (May 6, 2018) – Team Arana concluded a successful weekend with second round and semi-final finishes at the NHRA Southern Nationals.

Hector Arana Jr. would continue to show the dazzling speed he put on display the day before in qualifying by breezing through the first two rounds on Sunday. Arana Jr. would set low elapsed time of the meet in round one with a 6.819 second pass as well as run 197.10 mph, the fastest speed of the event, in round two aboard his Lucas Oil Racing TV EBR. This would lead to a matchup with Eddie Krawiec but problems during his run would end his day prematurely in the semi-final round.

Hector Arana Sr. would also show impressive speed early on, riding his Lucas Oil EBR to a time of 6.975 seconds at 195.05 mph to earn a convincing first round win. The run produced the second fastest speed of the round and third fastest speed of the event, just behind Arana Jr. and the Team Arana duo were the only riders to crack the 195 mph barrier on Sunday. While Arana Sr. would fall short in round two, the team is excited about their prospects going forward.

“From the start of the season, we showed that we had speed but we just needed to figure out how to improve our 60-foot times,” said Arana Sr. Already starting with a solid baseline setup, the team knew they only needed to make small changes. “We just had to fine-tune our clutch and starting in Q3, we basically had the bike dialed in,” added Arana Jr. “Until the semi-final round, we’d made four perfect runs in a row but on the last run the bike started to drift towards the centerline and I had to do everything to keep it in my lane. Unfortunately it was a bad time to have our worst run of the weekend but I’m very excited about our progress and we look forward to Joliet.”

Team Arana gets the next three weekends off before heading to Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, Illinois for the JEGS Route 66 Nationals on May 31-June 3. For tickets and information, visit NHRA.com or visit route66raceway.com.
