Arana Earns Second Pole Position of Season at Virginia

Hector Arana Jr 6 8 2018

Dinwiddie, Virginia (June 9, 2018) – On the strength of his Friday performance, Lucas Oil Racing TV EBR rider Hector Arana Jr. would earn the number one qualifying position for final eliminations in the NHRA Virginia Nationals.

Arana Jr.'s second session pass of 6.795 seconds at 198.15 mph would lead the NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle field and earn Jr. his second No. 1 qualifier position of the season. While the team couldn't match their numbers from yesterday, both runs would give the team valuable information for a track that is still new to most of the field. “We are always trying to run faster each round, but we wanted to figure out which direction we needed to go on Sunday,” Arana Jr. said. “Tonight, we will go through all of the data and notes and try to put a winning combination together for tomorrow.” Arana Jr. will face Kelly Clontz in the first round of eliminations.

WIth track conditions hotter today, Team Arana teammate Hector Arana Sr. would also qualify on the strength of his friday effort of 6.967 seconds at 195.56 mph to slot the Lucas Oil EBR into the 15th position on the ladder. Arana Sr. will face Andrew Hines in round one of competition.

Final eliminations for the NHRA Virginia Nationals will be held on Sunday, June 10th at Virginia Motorsports Park. For tickets and information, visit and catch all of the action on Fox Sports 1. Sunday coverage will air on FS1 at 6:00 pm Eastern Time.
