Pawlak Scores Top 4 Finish to Lead Lucas Oil Drivers at Seattle

Justin Pawlak

Monroe, Washington (July 26, 2018) – Justin Pawlak would score his second consecutive Top 4 finish while Matt Field would continue his 2018 resurgence and Fredric Aasbo retained his second place points position as the second half of the 2018 Formula Drift season kicked off in Seattle.

Following another exceptional qualifying effort, Pawlak would advance past Taylor Hull, Vaughn Gittin Jr. and Matt Coffman before facing Ryan Tuerck in the semi-final. After a tough battle, Pawlak would finish 4th overall and maintain his fifth place position in the points chase. "It was another awesome result for the Roush Performance/Falken Tires Mustang," said Pawlak. "The car was dialed in all weekend and we qualified and finished in the Final 4 for the second event in a row. We seem to be improving in each round and I really feel like a win is just around the corner."

Fredric Aasbo

Fredric Aasbo came into Evergreen Speedway looking to bounce back from a second-round finish at New Jersey and began the weekend in top form by qualifying his Rockstar Energy Drink/Nexen Tire Toyota Corolla Hatchback in the Top-5 for the fifth event in a row. After defeating Federico Sceriffo in round 1 of eliminations, Aasbo would experience an off-track excursion in his battle with Matt Field and would again have to settle for a second-round finish. Despite the early exit, Aasbo would still hold on to second place in the standings. "It was a bummer that I went off track, especially after the crew worked so hard to get the car ready," said Aasbo. "But against these drivers you have to push hard and sometimes these things happen. You learn and move on and I'm looking forward to getting back on track in St. Louis."

Matt Field

Matt Field continued his momentum from his runner-up finish at New Jersey with a third place qualifying effort and would dispatch of Dean Kearney and Aasbo to earn a solid third-round finish. With the result, Field moves up to the eighth spot in the championship. "We beat Fredric and ran solid against (James) Deane to make it to the Top 8 so I'm happy," said Field. "The crew did great and we're starting to build momentum. The Falken Tires Corvette continues to get better and better and we are definitely going to be a contender next year. Hopefully we can continue this in the next round."
