Within five minutes of running the engine, with additive, the noise seems to be gone.

I have a Kawasaki 750 Vulcan, that has had a bad tap, for several years now. It seemed to be worse, when the engine was cold. I figured it was the lifters, but the mechanics at the shop, where I bought the bike, back in 2005, said it was the timing chain. I bought some Lucas Pure Synthetic oil stabilizer, as a last resort, before tearing the engine down. Within five minutes of running the engine, with additive, the noise seems to be gone. Time will tell, but for now, it seems to have resolved the issue. -Neale
